Project Details

The brief for this project was for a sleek design with playful elements. My clients were about to embark on a rebuild and had a pretty clear idea of what they wanted, but needed some help pulling all the elements together, and we came up with some colourful and fun ideas throughout the house.

They were keen on a terrazzo floor tile in the bathroom but with a busy household full of children, their priority was no ongoing maintenance that can come with a natural stone. We went with an Italian porcelain full-bodied terrazzo look tile sourced via The Design Palette which ticked all the boxes. The colour of this tile was the basis for the pops of colour in the concrete surface-mounted basins in each bathroom. We used a white speckle concave finger tile on all of the walls in the bathrooms which lends itself perfectly to the curved detail in the master ensuite shower area.

A wall-to-wall wallpaper mural in the master suite was a beautiful way to bring in artwork in a more unique way, and this space is filled with texture in the luscious loop pile carpet, velvet armchairs and leather bedhead both by Jardan, and a soft leather ottoman.

The colour continues through to the kids’ bedrooms where we used Dulux Moonwort on the walls which connects to the polyurethane custom-coloured kitchen cabinetry on the ground floor. Oak timber accents in joinery and furniture bring just the right amount of warmth throughout the home, and particularly against the black porcelain slate look tiles which provide the perfect base for the design of this home.

What has been created in this home is a perfect reflection of the clients’ personalities – fuss-free, stylish, practical and timeless without taking themselves too seriously.
