Marrickville House

The owners of this newly built five-bedroom house reached out to me before they moved in knowing they would want to make some changes to add their own personality to some of the spaces.

We installed two gas fireplaces in both the entry room and back living space. The entry room is now a library space with custom joinery installed to house the family’s much loved books, some vibrant new artworks, and the room is now filled with pops of colour and texture in the rug and upholstery fabrics of velvet in deep greens and burgundy.

More built joinery flows into the study to house musical instruments and books, with a beautiful leather chesterfield and more colourful artwork. This space reflects the family’s love of music, yet is calm enough and strikes just the right balance for one half of the adult occupants working from home as a lawyer.

The open plan living space at the back of the house is a beautifully spacious zone for the family to relax and connect, with a large Globe West modular sofa sitting in front of the second gas fireplace and media storage.
