Working closely with my clients on the renovation of their existing three-bedroom home, to expand to a two level five bedroom home including parents retreat, involved full finish selection, custom joinery, paint selection and furniture. The home sits below street level, so it was important that the new second level finishes palette sat gently on the land as you descended the stairs to the newly formed concrete bridge which takes you from the garden to the entry.
The owner’s Cyprian heritage has influenced the selections with beautiful peach toned limestone floor tiles in the bathrooms, laid in a herringbone pattern, and soft green custom cabinetry in various spaces throughout the home. The choice of a smoked look, engineered oak timber floor, balancing light and dark shades of brown was the perfect choice for a nod to the Mediterranean palette.
Downstairs the gentle curves in the kitchen cabinetry and engineered stone, reinterpreting Iranian marble and featuring different tonalities of green, enriched by shades of white, create depth and a luxurious look of transparency. Custom joinery finished in Laminex Possum (a deep green/brown tone) in the combined butler’s pantry and laundry off the kitchen was just the right colour to connect to the finishes in the rest of the house.
Custom window coverings throughout featuring layers of sheer and lined linen, with 100% loop pile carpet in soft grey tones create a textural softness in the spaces. Furniture, artworks, and soft furnishings were sourced throughout the home, creating a beautiful, calm, and spacious family home that my clients love to spend time in.
