Let there be light

Lighting is one of the most important elements of design. Without the right lighting in a house the rooms can feel bland or clinical and no ambiance can be created.

Natural light has to be my first 'go to' on the checklist in a client's home. So to should it be when buying or renting a home - the right aspect to make the most of the morning and afternoon sunshine is paramount. Then looking to install the right artificial light results in creating beautiful ambient rooms. And there are so many amazing designs when it comes to lighting these days, lamps and pendants really add such a stylish edge to any space.

Standard overhead lighting if too bright, can be over powering and clinical. The use of dimmers, table and floor lamps in conjunction with recessed lighting in the ceiling in certain rooms creates a much more gentle lighting experience around the home. A beautiful floor lamp in the corner of a living room and a table lamp on a side board; under counter lighting in the kitchen and bathroom; a cluster of fairy lights in a child’s bedroom; a vintage desk lamp in an office or study nook; stylish bedside lamps in a bedroom; pendant lighting in work spaces in the kitchen and dining areas – all of these create the perfect mood in any space.
